Slime experiments

Nanny Kimbo has been experimenting with slime!

Little's teacher mentioned that she wanted to make some but wasn't sure of the correct recipe so I had a dig around the interwebs and found a few recipes. Having never attempted to make slime before, I had no idea how things would turn out.

The live broadcast has been broken down into shorter videos so you don't have to watch an hour of Nanny Kimbo chattering between experiments!

If you are a slime expert, give Nanny Kimbo a shout on Facebook, Instagram or via email for a chance to be featured on the blog!

The first recipe we tried was hair conditioner and cornflour. We also added food colouring and flavouring to make it more fun. This didn't make slime but it made a fun, silky putty.

The next one was using glue and detergent as well as a few other ingredients. It didn't turn out so well but it was still fun all the same!

Our third experiment was blu tack and hand soap. This one was fun to make. It still didn't quite make slime but it was great to play with. It would be a fun anxiety toy.

The final experiment was shampoo and salt.  This one didn't work even a little bit but I still enjoyed the process.

All in all, I don't think we did too badly.

THE NEXT DAY

We left all of the samples in the fridge overnight and checked on them the following morning. Here are the results:

We also tried a few more recipes that ended in disaster!

We haven't quite managed to make slime just yet but we are not going to give up!

We have 4 pots that need to stand for two days so be sure to check back to see how that went!

UPDATE: The slime pots that were left to stand did NOT work out either! Nanny Kimbo will not be defeated though and more slime experiments will take place soon.

Next week we will be attempting kinetic sand!

Be sure to check out Nanny Kimbo's other activities.
